Shantipriya was born in Rangampeta village near Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh, in a Telugu-speaking family to parents Pandu Babu and Ragamali. Her family later moved to Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has an elder brother, Gopikrishna, and an elder sister, Bhanupriya, who is also a film actress since the 1980s.

Shantipriya has acted in several films, including "Enga Ooru Pattukaran" (1988). She was also seen in the TV science-fiction series "Aryamaan - Brahmaand Ka Yodha" (2002) with Mukesh Khanna. Shantipriya made her debut with the film "Saugandh" alongside Akshay Kumar. She has worked in films like "Mere Sajana Saath Nibhana," "Phool Aur Angaar," and "Meharban" with Mithun Chakraborty. She has also acted in the film "Hamilton Palace" with Mithun's son, Mahakshay Chakraborty.

Shantipriya is set to make a comeback in 2022 with the biopic of Sarojini Naidu. She is also the brand ambassador for Solitaire Diamonds. Currently, she is acting in the MX Player series "Dharavi Bank."
